As soon as I started renting space out at Hunters Point Shipyard more than
four years ago, I got a new sense of dedication to my lifelong pursuit creating artwork. Despite working a full-time job, I started going to my studio two to three nights a week and every
weekend. It changed everything.
Working at the shipyard, the “boondocks,” in an old run-down Navy classroom, and having shipyard artist community surrounding me, I felt more connected to that artistic part of me than I had in many years. After working for several months in my studio, I knew I would have to give up my job and use my time for painting and photography. The visual elements at the old,
crumbling Navy shipyard have had a major effect on my work.
I finally have time for creating digital images and digital collages along with my long-standing pursuit of painting and collage. And so I continue exploring artwork at the shipyard and beyond.
